Whats your view point on.....?

I know some people that do parelli...and ya for the most part its ok i guess....ive neva really followed a trianing program ive alwasy trained my own with the ways ive been taught for years. But im curious to see wat other horse people think about like makin a horse jump a barrel? Whats the point to it? and how do you start colts or fillies....cuz in parelli u start them in a halter? whats your opinion? ive always been taught it goes from the bit to the halter not the halter to a bit.! I just wanna see what people think of these types of ideas...and im curious to see why people see good in stuff like jumping a barrel.! (im western so please strictly stick to western horses NO english thank you) please give me your opinion im researching the pros and cons to these home study stuff! thankx in a head!
