Do I need new gutters with TImberline lifetime Shingles?

I am having my roof repaired and shingles replaced. The roofer wants to install Timberline Lifetime Shingles and says because they are heavier shingles, I need new gutters. Is this true or is he trying to pull a fast one? Thanks
