Is it illegal to have straight.......?

Ok heres my question. I live just outside of jasper alabama, and i just received a 1990 ford ranger from my late grandfather, he had a 4 cyl with straight pipes. i dont really wont to get rid of them because i grew up listening them roar, is it illegal to have the straight pipes even if i know how to keep them quite?
